Writer, editor and arts manager, Manju Sara Rajan on the evolution of her relationship with art, design, space, style, and of course, jewellery. As with her homes, her sartorial taste reflects a love for storied pieces, always driven by the underlying idea that the protagonist of the story being told is You. 

"I always gravitate towards signature things; I love strong pieces with a story. You reach a stage where your assessment of value changes, so becomes about the inherent value of a piece not in so far as the price tag, but how does that represent me, what does it say about me, and how does it fit into my life."

A life lived in many places, made richer with its different flavours, experiences, environments, and pace – all assimilating in characterful layers as seen in her style, her homes, her jewels. 

"I think I'm a little bit of a chameleon. I love to embrace the atmosphere or the pulse of the city. And I think in Delhi it was a little over the top, you know, the colours and in the way, the house was put together. It always felt very dressed up. There were flowers everywhere, candles. Whereas in Goa it's more in sync with the outdoors, with nature, flowers are foraged from the garden and the fabrics are a lot more natural. It just feels airier."
